Oh how I HATE Guy rd....I'm not going to lie to you, I was renting a house down off of Guy and I drop my god-daughter off in the same area for school..coming back down Guy rd to hwy 70 takes FOREVER. Backs up alot too! I take Guy rd halfway down from 42, turn right onto amelia church (I think thats the road) and take shotwell down.

Coming home at night on Guy rd too is a nightmare. Lots of little furry animals like to cross, I've seen some deer too. The road is not very well lit so just be careful.
I take Guy Rd daily to work into Cary. The worst part about the commute is the exit off of 70 to get onto 40E. I just take rock quarry all the way to the 40 east exit and to exit 300/299. Much much easier.

Hunters Mill is easier to get to if you take 40 east to exit 312 I believe for 42 but from 70 you can always take 42 straight.

I am from MD and honestly you have no clue what traffic is until you try to commute into DC or Baltimore. Maybe if everyone here was not so interested in cars on the side of the rd or knew how to merge and use traffic signals this would be a little quicker

You are from MD? How are you adjusting to it down there? I too am in MD and am looking at NC. I am afraid there will not be enough to do. You know how much there is in MD with the bay, ocean, Baltimore, Annapolis, Lancaster, DC...

There is not as much going on in as compact of an area but the beaches are much nicer, restaurants and bars/clubs are less crowded nor do they try to be something they are not (LA, NY, Vegas) and they do have plenty of museums, fairs, festivals downtown. I love it down here for the simple reason that it is more laid back and things are much easier to get to. There is definitely enough to do though I do miss the Harbor.

Hey Heather,
Did you hear that there are plans to widen Guy road? Also they are supposed to be putting in some more connector roads to filter off some traffic.

That should alleviate some of the problems, heh?
Lauren

I heard of Hunters Mill...where is that?
I live in Winston Pointe and I am very happy to report the speed bumps have been removed. My family and I have been here a year and we absolutely love it here. The homes are large and open and the lots are all wooded. We will eventually have a community pool and pocket parks. My daughter attends West Clayton elementary and we are very happy with the school. Teachers and staff are great. Anyone considering Clayton should definitely check it out. Prices are 220k-260K with some more expensive "Estate" homes going in.

Thanks for the tip about the Rock Quarry rd exit, I'll have to try that!

I've never driven in DC or Baltimore so yeah, I have no clue.
But oh man...I can't stand the rubbernecks...they come to a COMPLETE stop just to watch someone CHANGE THEIR TIRE...Those are the ones I want to put my car in park, walk up to their driver side window and ask them how long its going to take for them to comprehend that the three miles of people behind them WOULD LIKE TO GO HOME TODAY.
Oh they make me so mad...lol.

I just finished looking at some houses in Winston Pointe via internet....looks right up our alley, right in our price range too! Just sent my realtor an email to keep an eye out. Thanks for the post!

Default Winston Pointe

We are moving down there in a couple of weeks and have seen some homes in Winston Pointe. I have read the comments and it seems like a nice place. Someone mentioned there is no pool, but there are plans to build one? do you know when? Also, how is the community? We have 2 small children (15 mos and 2.5 yrs) and are looking for a commnuity with children. Also, someone mentioned larger homes going up in that subdivision? Any idea about them? Thanks for the help.

I was down a few weeks ago and drove thru to see the house we were interested in way back when. They have some very nice more expensive homes going in on great cul-de-sacs. The hilarious thing is that when we drive down Guy road we remark how little traffic there is. Guess thats the difference between Maryland and North Carolina for now. 70 can be bad but try the DC Beltway.
