Default What are my options for Sports in NC?

So I moving to NC in the next few weeks and I am soooooo sad to be leaving Milford, NH. I have lived here for only 9 months!!! I was just offered a job from Texas, was there 22 years, to come and live in NH. Shortly after unpacking my last moving box, the whole division up rooted and moved to NC. I loved TX, but loved the outdoor activities that NC has to offer and the sports scene of Sox, Celts, Pats, etc.

I know that I will be able to find outdoor stuff in NC, but the sport scene is primarily college focused and hard to get tickets. I am going to miss taking my boys to watch MLB teams like the Texas Rangers at the Ball Park or to see the Sox at Fenway. Do I just need to deal with the fact that I am now a Durham Bulls fan? Are there lots of minor league team to watch in the area?

The Durham Bulls are popular here. So are the Carolina Mudcats, where you can see better baseball. The Mudcats are a short drive out east. Our college baseball teams (N.C. State, UNC) are also pretty good and have nice new ballfields.

College sports are king here and I bet you'll grow to like them (there's a reason tickets are hard to get!) Charlotte (2.5 hours west) has the Carolina Panthers and the Charlotte Bobcats for basketball. Raleigh has the Carolina Hurricanes, 2005-06 Stanley Cup Champions!

You'll learn to LOVE the excitement of college basketball in the ACC and you'll learn what you have to do to get tix to championship games (sell your firstborn). NCSU football games and tailgating are truly part of the local culture and shoudl not be missed. The mudcats and the Durham bulls games can be fun, but be sure to save your money and turn yourself into a Carolina Hurricanes fan!
