Default Wine Tasting at Taylor's Wine Shop, March 25

I would like to invite you all to something that is very meaningful to me and will benefit our community.

Gina and Taylor Cash of Taylor's Wine Shop have graciously agreed to host a wine tasting for a cause I have started in memory of my sister-in-law, Kathy Rose Short who lost her 4 year battle with cancer this past summer. Kathy was a great supporter of hospice and the funds raised will benefit Hospice of Wake County's Indigent Patient Fund. The team I started is called Tri4Kathy: Run, Bike, Swim for HOWC. I'll be organzing smaller fundraisers throughout the year and will conclude with my first full distance iron man, Beach2Battleship November 13th in Wilmington, NC.

So, hope you'll join us . . .

Thursday, March 25th, 6:00 - 8:00 PM
Taylor's Wine Shop
10005 Six Forks (intersects the 540 at Exit 11)
$10 donation at the door

Taylor's Wine Shop

wine auction - finger foods - great wine selection

Thank you,
Donna Webster

Default Unique Triangle Stuff - Paperhand Puppet shows!

I know there have been thread about truly unique things to see and do in the Triangle, but I couldn't find it. Well, for those who are up for something "completely different"....if you haven't seen a Paperhand Puppet Intervention show, there is one going on now. They usually just have their big run in CH's Forest Theater, then NCMA's ampitheater every summer, but they have a special show running now. Kid friendly.

Paperhand Puppet Intervention (http://www.paperhand.org/loveandrobots.htm - broken link)

edited to add...no, these are not cutesy little kid hand puppets. VEry edgy, often very large, great music.

How much does this show cost? I don't even see it on their website, which is kind of strange.

Lonerider Brewing Company (located in North Raleigh, about a mile from Angus Barn) is holding their second annual "Brew it Forward" party on Saturday, March 27th. It's basically a contest for local (NC) homebrewers. The brewery picks the best beer from all those entered and brews it on their 15 BBL system. The beer is then sold at the brewery in growlers and kegs, and the profits are donated to charity. The associated party is open to anyone, and includes food, a band, and beer, but you do have to RSVP. Tickets (donation requested) are available here:

Brew It Forward Part Deux - Beer - Raleigh brewery- Eventbrite

And the main site for the contest is here:

Brew It Forward – LoneRider: Ales for Outlaws (http://www.loneriderbeer.com/brew-it-forward/ - broken link)

If you're a homebrewer and want to enter, the deadline is this Saturday, March 20th.
