I haven't been there myself, but I hear that Buy, Buy Baby carries higher end stuff like what you mention. They recently opened in New Hope Commons (in Durham, off 15-501) in the old Linen and Things space.

You can see Bob strollers at REI.

I have actually bought several high end strollers second hand off of Craigslist. If you don't mind gently used (or hey, I did get a Phil and Teds new in the box), you can save a bunch of money and you can see and try it out before you buy.

Babies R Us carries Peg Perego. That is where I got my Pliko P3. That was before Bugaboo was the big thing. I know Babies R Us carries Bugaboo online but I don't know if they carry it in the stores. Haven't seen it but then again I haven't been in there in almost a year.

There is a big price difference between the two. To be honest, I've never seen anyone with a Bugaboo in the Triangle. It will cost between $800-1K. People just aren't that materialistic here. It's not like NY or Boston where everyone has one. I've seen people with Peg Perego but that's not the majority here either.

BuyBuyBaby is my favorite. Much nicer than BabiesRUs and excellent customer service.

I always hated Babies R Us for a variety of reasons. Good there is another option area here, now. Of course I now have no use for baby items but at least if I am shopping for others I can now use Buy Buy.

There are definitely high quality strollers you can buy such as MacClaren that will not cost $1000. What a waste!

I've heard about this place, but have never been. It might be an option for you.

Yes Smart Momma. They have the strollers down on the floor and encourage you to handle them, spin them around, etc. Plus, the staff is educated on the various models and brands.

Buy Buy Baby in New Hope Commons is also another good option. They have BOB, Bumbleride, Orbit, etc.

Tot to Teen (formerly Child Space/USA Baby) has some higher end strollers, but I've never seen a Bugaboo there. It's on Glenwood a few miles from Brier Creek.

The Cotton Company in Wake Forest also has a few high end strollers you can 'test drive.'

(the section is called "Toads & Tulips, Baby Products and Educational Toys" inside the store -http://www.thecottoncompany.net)
