Yeah, I knew that would be your response.

What is maybe an even bigger shame is to hold gov't to such very low standards of performance.

The Customer Service Office answers the department's toll-free customer service line, 1-877-DOT-4YOU, from 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, with extended hours as necessary for emergencies.

Tried that number multiple times and after the initial recording I always get nothing but extended silence....except once when I was given the opportunity to leave a recorded message with my CB number - never heard back from them though.

BTW, I notice that the problem continues to get worse in the past week - several new tags added to the outer wall going out toward Wade Ave.

I noticed the Capital exit off the 440 beltline had more, too. Makes me sick.

The number I was given is 919-996-6001.

Is that the same number you have been trying to call?

Vicki

I haven't seen this particular graffiti but we had some tagging on 42 going into Fuquay-Varina. Husband called the county sheriff's office and the police department, (as it was in the county and city limits), and it was removed very quickly. I wonder if the graffiti mentioned might also be, "Tagging" - "Gang related graffiti may be the first sign that there are gangs in the community. Gangs use graffiti as their "newspapers," their way of marking boundaries and warning rival gangs. Graffiti may also be used to advertise the selling of drugs. Or as a means of erecting a memorial to a killed gang member". Gang signs and symbols

That's the City number. They say it is the DOT's responsibility and they say they've contacted the DOT multiple times about the problem over the past year only to be told every time "we're working on it".

I've called the city number in the past about graffiti on the beltline. They just took the information. Nothing was done.

Yeah the City of Raleigh sees it as strictly a DOT responsibility.

And the local DOT seems content to let the problem go unaddressed and get worse.

Modern government at it's finest.
