Anyone know anything about a subdivision called Winchester? I found a house I like there but can't find anything about the HOA on the net since it was built in the 90's. Was wondering about things like can you have a pool etc. Thanks!

Winchester is off Buffaloe Road in Raleigh. It does have a HOA and it does have covenants. Try finding the covenants by going into Wake County's website. Vicki

by the way what exactly are restrictive covenants?
Are these just rules regarding exterior/interior of the homes?
thanks

They are just basic rules that everyone living in a development have to follow. And they are enforceable. Things such as pull your garbage can out of sight when it's not trash day, or only glass storm doors, or no flags. etc. etc.

Most planned home communities around here have some kind of Restrictive covenants. To keep the neigborhood looking uniform and tidy. Also included in many dues are right to the neighborhood pool, and a small fee to keep the common areas grounds well kept.

I have a friend that lives in that particular subdivision on mill rock I believe, near the pool and tennis courts. House sizes are in the 2000+ sq. ft. range. Homes built in the mid 90's. From what I can tell it is a nice neighborhood, and one of the few with multiple tennis courts. I like it. There home has a nice bonus room over the garage, and a full front porch.
