Dharani Restaurant - Altamount Restaurant Group
Yep my company is about 80% Indian and they all think this place Dharani South Indian Cuisine and Biryani Maxx Indian Cuisine in Cary are the best.

Oh wow, look at all these responses. Thanks y'all. I think I've settled on Dharani. Dad's coming up all the way from SC so I don't mind paying a lot for some tasty authentic dishes. Main reason I wanted to go to Royal India besides the reviews of course was because I could get there by going down Wade Ave to Capital...and Wade Ave is probably my favorite road in all the Triangle, would have liked to take pops down it so he can see the city a bit.

That young man is SO handsome too (I feel like a dirty old lady typing that!!)

Cliantro tastes authentic.
And Bawarchi in the Stein Mart shopping center on Chapel Hill Rd and Cary Pkwy is a newer place and quite good as well

Assuming you mean Himalayan Range, I went there this weekend and really enjoyed it. I ordered a Nepali dish vs. the other more familiar Indian ones. Definitely a different blend of spices, and quite good! Prices were almost too reasonable - hope they don't price themselves out of business!

Ha, this is kinda funny because I could not remember the name of "the other place". It was Himalayan Napali. The word I could not remember is the word I used wrong in describing the new place. My brain works in mysterious ways. Ha!

Yes, you are correct.

Does not come close to meeting OP's requirement of authentic. I ate there once, and I liked it, but it simply does not fit what OP is asking for.

Can I ask reasoning for Azitra not being authentic Indian cuisine? Because the restaurant OP mentioned, 2 out of 3 serves similar North Indian cuisine that Azitra serves and Meenaskhi Bhavan is South Indian cuisine. Just curious to know.

Americans like to guess at what is authentic from a given country based on things like how many foreigners they see when they walk into the place. Anyone who thinks Azitra is not authentic Indian must have never been to India. Its a bit upscale and pricey and thus kind of a niche restaurant, at least the last time I was there. But guess what they have pricey restaurants in Indian too.. lol
