we are moving back to the area and both work from home..we really are just looking for a nice neighborhood with good schools...we live in NYC now so i dont see us really doing the subdivision thing, chapel hill/carrboro is our favorite area but carrboro is more in our price range. but would we need private school?

No, the public schools are quite good here. Chapel Hill and Carrboro are in the same school system, which is generally regarded as the best in North Carolina. Our daughter is in Kindergarten in the district, and we are all quite happy with her school.

Most people moving here are willing to pay the extra steep home prices and property taxes because the school are so good. They are considered the superior system in the state and most see no need for private schools. Unless you kids have special needs and even if they do you will do well to consider living in Chapel Hill/Carrboro. We chose the area because of the reputation of the schools.
