Vicki I know this is slightly off topic, but I love the Cameron Village area but never see any of the homes for sale on realtor.com or when driving around is it some enclave or something? What secret handshake do you need to get in there? Is it that I am priced too high or priced too low in my search?
Any thoughts?
Now you are talking about INSIDE THE BELTLINE (ITB), where the "old money" lives! Sometimes I think they don't offer their homes for sale...word of mouth sells it for them! Seriously though, they do go on the market from time to time. Another area I love is the Ridge Road area.
It makes me laugh , being from new jersey. The houses I am looking at in cary around the 200-250k range would be 350-400k range in Central Jersey ( we can't even talk north jersey add 150k to the price) and the taxes in cary of around 2000 -2200k is unreal coming from that **** hole Jersey. Most of my freind did not beleive me when I told them. The taxes up there on houses the same size easy $6000-$8000 derpending on when they assessed you ,but if there near the $6000 range everyone knows there going up soon. And as for the yankee jokes. Us yankees relocating is one of the reasons Raleigh real estate has gone up Cary especially. All that north east yankee money sure did not hurt realestate prices. so easy with the joke.........
Depending on where you are working should be a good basis for where you move to but also keep in mind that Clayton is on the Southeast side of Raleigh and RTP, Durham, Morrisville, Cary and Apex are all on the south west meaning if you start on the eastside working then change to the west you are further from A LOT more. A good starting point is Apex or HSP or even Morrisville. But if you are buying new unless you purchase land or go out into south Clayton or Garner you are not going to get much land. Less land per lot = more houses in a development and they still charge the same lot premium. If you don't mind getting an existing home then go to an older neighborhood (5+ years) and look there. Stay away from Mcar and KB Home as well. Nothing but negatives about them.
The reason for the C-A-R-Y acronym is because most people from the north are looking to move away from the hustle and bustle of city living. Most parts of Cary reminds us what real “suburbia” was meant to be.

The REAL reason Cary got the "Containment Area for Relocating Yankees" is because back when RTP first begun, IBM (I've been moved) moved a huge amount of folks from New York to NC. Back then, Morrisville was just farm land so most of the IBMers settled in North Raleigh and Cary.
