I always take visitors to the Duke gardens and chapel. It is so lovely there. Hmmm, A Bull's game is fun, my in laws LOVE the flea market, the walking trails at the art museum are great, the Tabacco District (is that right?) is kinda cool...
I would second duke gardens and the chapel. I also have people who like to walk around UNC chapel hill and see the "old well" (it is a place that people always see on advertisements, etc)
But, like you, I have lived here for so long (36 years) that I don't really come up with much.
For Raleigh, I'd say Schenk Forest, the Museum of Natural Science, Pullen Park, Flea Market, Farmer's Market, Chubby's Tacos, and the beer selection at Peace St. Market.

I lke Peace St Market...but for it's beer selction? Sam's in Durham or even Team Beverage on Louisberg Road have better selections.

Sam's undoubtably has the best selection in the Triangle (and great service/staff who will give great advice), but I was focusing on Raleigh. I don't know Team Beverage.
