I planted a perennial Peony three years ago. Each winter, as expected it dies back to the ground when it gets cold and then sprouts new growth in the Spring. I'm pretty sure I should be seeing something by now, but there is no sign of the plant so far this spring. I think it may have gone to plant heaven. Do you have a Peony? Has it sprouted yet?

Thanks!

Mine have not come up at all yet and I have several. It's really very early in the season still.

My two have just appeared. I planted them last fall. Do deer like Peonys?

Thanks... I think I may have been fooled into thinking they should be up by now because all my bulbs have started to grow (and this is the first year I have planted bulbs). With all the new growth and the recent jump to warmer weather I guess started to feel things are further along than they really are.

I'm glad to hear that there is still plenty of time for them to show since I planted this for my wife and she would be none to happy if she thought I had murdered it!

I have maybe 12 peony plants in my yard, and only 1 is showing sprouts yet. Given how delayed our bulbs were (crocuses and daffodils probably 6 wks later than usual, thanks to the extra cold/snow this year), I'm not surprised the peonies are late. They usually start poking up their heads around the time my daffs fade, so I'd say another week or two. Oh, and Big M, I haven't had deer issues with mine, even with the deer mowing the daylilies planted nearby.

Peonies are pretty much indestructible, and the ones in my parents yard in Ohio are still going strong 35 years after they moved in. I wouldn't worry.
