In Apex you can still get an older home - probably built in the 70's. Though they might be a little closer to 170. Still not bad though

3 bed/2 bath, 1211 sq. ft., not including the full, unfinished basement, no HOA. Not bad.

I just checked out the Colvard Farms website. $239,900 for less than 1/2 acre? That seems crazy to me. I've never understood the appeal of having a million dollar home basically sitting on top of another million dollar home. If I had over a million to spend on a home I'd buy acreage and enjoy it. To each their own...

Makes sense to me. Some people with $$$ are tightfisted, so they don't want to deal with landscapers, and they're too busy with their own careers and interests to do it themselves. So they enjoy a beautiful home without the headaches of lawn care.

They also may have moved from areas where homes are on top of each other, so it's non big deal (California, NYC area).

Also, (this is a general comment) -- don't assume people living in areas of lower-cost homes can't afford far more expensive homes if they wanted. Surprisingly, some choose not to.

Hey, we're neighbors! Not only can 150K buy you something sweet, but there are so many houses for sale, many in the 100K-120K range. We love living here.

Nothing in my subdivision, but I think within a few miles there are some condos around that price. Townhomes seem to start just under $200k.
