I know $150K is low and probably gets nothing in most neighborhoods. But I was playing around on [unnamed site] and found it fascinating to see the differences in what that amounts can get in neighborhoods that are only a few miles from each other.

So, what would $150K get you in your neighborhood?

$150,000 would not even get you one of the "affordable housing" houses in our neighborhood.

A beautiful home on half an acre in a fantastic neighborhood with friendly people and loads of sweet kids. No HOA to speak of and freedom to do as I wish on my property. I absolutely love the neighborhood that we are going to be in and I couldn't be happier with my decision to purchase this house.

The neighbors really take pride in their homes and the neighborhood looks amazing. The owners told us about how all the kids know eachother and spend loads of time outside instead of sitting around in front of the tv. All the neighbors on our street are so nice and I cannot wait to throw a block party.

$150k doesn't quite buy a home outright in my neighborhood but it would be close. Depending on what happens with our currency you will probably see house prices continue to slide downward. You will also see wages in the US continue to slide downward as well as global competition ramps up and our workforce continues to become more educated.

An awesome 1970's ranch or split level on a .25-.35 acre lot that has a fence. Located in N.Raleigh near six forks and 540, lots of great places to walk to to eat, on the nature trails.

A 10 year old house on an acre, 1200-1300 sq ft, no garage.

With garage, screened in breezeway, wrap around porch, deck, fence, and beautifully landscaped $170,000. But we got it for $140,000
