Yep. QC is definitely lacking. I have a friend who works for a large paving contractor ... Listening to him, he claims that sometimes DOT doesn't do the prep that they've committed to perform before paving begins. Hence they know they'll have problems later.
NC also has a disconnect between the loads that the roads are designed for and the weights that get allowed through legislation/lobbying efforts.
Go figure ...

the reason other contractors have an easy time cleaning the road is that maybe the bigest job you have ever been near was proably 10,000 to 100,000 cu yards of dirt. last year alone 2 million cu yards of dirt was moved over streets that were poorly constructed by the companies that keept the strrets so clean. this job is the largest earth moving operation in nc history. the management of rdr is so fustrated and worried about the opinion of the community, i promise you they are doing as much as possible to keep things cleaned up. this is a state and federaly funded project everthing is designed bid and inspected by nc and fed people even down to the way rdr cleans the roads. 85 %of the mud is from inspectors. think about it bridge people and dirt workere go to the job site and stay and work not drive around all day. all hauling roads for dirt moving are maintained with brooms and water trucks. also dont bring your kids and dogs through the job site on the green ways and closed roads. they are closed. and it is very dangerous they dont care if people see what they are doing its just very dangerous . i have kids and dogs to and i would never bring them to the job site.
i have worked all over the place, and i like the people in this area. rdr is a good company. if they wernt doing the job someone els would. and to the people who knowingly bought houses along the route quit complaing you knew it was comming. if you didnt be mad at your realitor because they have known for 13.5 years. i promise i can prove it.

Yes, I've seen them do this several times. Next thing you know, someone will start complaining about the slow traffic due to the road builders washing off the road
