Default Electric heat

My wife and I have been looking at homes in the area for a little over a month now and we have noticed that many homes have electric heat. In our area (the northeast), this is usually viewed as a negative when buying a home. I was wondering if we should be concerned about this. Obviously we will not be heating the home as much when we move to NC.

Thanks for any help!

Electric heat, as in a heat pump?
The air is a little cooler, but workable.
The rest of the story is the Summer AC costs are less, as the heat pump AC is more efficient.

If you are finding electric forced air furnaces, or baseboard electric heat, that is a negative, IMO.
