Question Resources to find good local doctors

Now that I've moved and am settled, I need to start looking for a whole new set of doctors. Can anyone point me to a Web site or other resource where local doctors are reviewed (if one exists)? I'd love to get some opinions on doctors before just selecting one at random from my health insurance plan.

To start, I need a dentist, eye doctor, OB/GYN and endocrinologist. I know... sounds like a lot but I'm starting from scratch. TIA for your help!

Default Doctors

Dr. Corrine Griffith at Capital Family Physicians and Dr. Julian Drew (Dental). For years, always very happy with both.

I asked friends, family neighbors and on several forums. I recommend Dr. Wynne as a dentist, but he really only does adults, not children. He's very good and does a lot of local "celebrity" teeth. I just changed Dr.'s to a small practice called Schmidt and Catchings in Cary. I was specifically looking for a small practice because I hated the feel of being another "number". I just started going to them and so far I like them but I have only been to one of the doctors there. I also switched OB'Gyn's to Dr. Sheshadri in Cary. This is also another small practice with only a few doctors (my preference) and for eye care I go to Western Wake Eye Center near Western Wake Med hospital. Over all, I've been very pleased.

Creedmoor Centre in N Raleigh has a number of dentists offices, Vision Park, (formerly on capital blvd) and 2 medical offices (Board Certified Family Physicians, Dr Juer in one office, Dr Jeffries in another) Often Family MD's have rapport with other sub specialists. Also check insurance plan, check with Rex and Wake for MD's on staff and in your area. Call offices, ask questions, how long does it take to get an apptment etc etc.
OB/GYN, can't tell you from personal experience but have heard good things about practices around Rex.

Where are you at? It would not do you much good if someone recomends a doctor in Durham when you love in Wilson.

I'm in Raleigh - near Cameron Village but willing to travel within a 15-20 mile radius for the right doctor.

Wilkerson ob/gyn is the best in the area. They are attached to Rex hospital, but they are not a huge office. Used to go to Capital Area ob/gyn --long waits, too many on staff, not friendly. I'm relocating home to Charlotte and am worried about finding a gyn as great as Wilkerson. www.wilkersonobgyn.com Good luck!

I second Dr. Bill Wynne as a dentist. He was my childhood dentist and since I've moved back to the area I've started going back to him again. I asked him for a referral for my kids, and he suggested Dr. Dan Howell. For an endocrinologist I suggest Dr. Corey Berlin at Raleigh Endocrine Associates.

I too have used Dr. Wynne. He is a great dentist, BUT his administrative help leave much to be desired. I have no problem with the upfront payments for the dental work but the attitude of " we are too busy to fill out the insurance claim for you" are uncalled for. This is the only way folks with insurance can get reimbursed. If you do not have his office signature and license your dental claims are no good. I have great dental insurance but what use is if the office staff won't provide the info.
