Hey all.

I am looking for a small town close/commutable (30 mins)to Raleigh. My husband and I are in our 30's, and we have a small child. School systems are important, and we would like to avoid the school district/systems that have implemented the year-round schedule (no offense, just want to stick with the traditional schedule...) Also, looking for a safe community with charm that has things to do:shopping, parks, etc., but does not have the typicalm 'beige/cookie cutter feel".

Thanks in advance!

I highly recommend Fuquay Varina. Still part of Wake County Schools, but there are traditional calendar elementary, middle, and high schools. My husband's commute to North Raleigh is about 30 minutes.

The newer housing areas of any of the small towns are going to have a "cookie cutter" feel.

If you are looking for your best return on investment I'd have to vote for Wake Forest.
