Help! We are buying a home in Chapel Hill which has water infiltration into the basement from a concrete patio flush with the door and siding. I think we need to get rid of the concrete slab to lower the grade so that the door/siding is not flush with the surface (ie the foundation shows) and then regrade and resurface the patio. Can anyone recommend a company which can recommend the correct "waterproofing" solution here and help us to implement it? We are new to NC and would really appreciate a reliable contact!

Do you have to remove the whole patio? Perhaps a partial removal (a foot or so) against the siding/door and french drains put in to draw the water away? Seems pretty extreme to take the whole patio up.

I really have no expertise in that area, so maybe my idea is too simplistic, but I would ask what is the minimal amount you can remove to remedy the damage and recurrence.
