Yes, there is a very small bad section in Apex. Look at the north carolina sex offenders website and you will be able to narrow down the location. I think they are trying to revitalize this particular area I'm speaking of, and it has improved in the last couple of years.
You can also call Apex police to find out the particular location. They make their "rounds" there several times a day.
When I was in Apex once, on Center Street in the more industrial area, an obviously strung out lady GOT INTO MY CAR and asked me for money. I had my 2 year old daughter and my husband (thankfully, otherwise I may have fainted) with me at the time. He drove to a bank and gave her 20 dollars and then dropped her off at her 'friends house' where she had a job... Maybe we did the wrong thing, but it seemed the only thing to do at the time. She was obviously going to get some drugs which she needed badly. Maybe Apex doesn't have crime problems, but that experience stands out so vivdly in my mind (it was about 8 years ago) that I don't think I could ever live there.

I always find that people that have lived in the area are the experienced ones instead of everyone posting about what they have heard. Thanks for the first hand knowledge.
Crimewise, not really. But one thing to be aware of, if you are looking at listings online or in the newspaper or something, make sure the house is actually in the town of Apex and not "Fapex". If it is in the zipcodes of 27502 or 27523, it is within the city limits of Apex so it will come with those perks as well as being within a reasonable distance to downtown Apex and Beaver Creek. If it is in the very large 27539 area code, it is in unincorperated area of Wake County south of Raleigh that has an "Apex address" but can be as far away as Fuquay. Within the real town of Apex, I'd stay maybe avoid the area around Perry Farms/South Apex (this is a very small area in the far south of the 27502 zipcode).
