OK...question for the locals!

What are the gargoyles just below the railing of the Top of the Hill. They look like they might be local characters...one of them looks like a man with a dog!

I hesitate to use my binoculars...wouldn't want to disturb the diners!! Anyone out there that can share the history/background of these?

I found some info about them through a Google search (gotta love Google!). This is a clip from The Chapel Hill News:
"The Maitlands [Scott and Rebecca] commissioned 15 of the creatures — they call them “Targoyles” — to be placed outside the restaurant’s third floor terrace overlooking Chapel Hill’s most famous intersection. They are uniquely Chapel Hill characters — a flower lady, a peace activist, a musician, a graduating student, Dean Smith, Michael Jordan and “Mia Ramm.” All 15 sport rams’ horns."

Thanks MrsSteel. I thought they had a uniquely "local" feel. Guess now I'm going to have to go back with my binoculars...sorry in advance to all the diners!!
