Wake Forest ?
I heard that Wake Forest has a very friendly, family oriented atmosphere to it. Lots to do for kids and family with a quaint home-town feeling without the city life. I also heard from one person that it is very crowded during the college season, is this a true statement (like I said I have only heard it from one so just curious)? TIA.

College Season? From the Seminary? I have been here 6 years and haven't noticed a thing.

Are there particular areas within Wake Forest that anyone would recommend? Or ones that are not as great? I'm looking in the area too but won't be able to make it out there until September. I'm just looking for a family friendly neighborhood.

I have lived in wake forest for two years, and I do not live downtown (where the seminary is located), so I don't notice the "influx" of students. The seminary is not huge, but certainly there are more cars downtown and parking is a little more challenging especially when the high school (wake forest rolesville is also downtown) and the college are in session. I haven't heard people complain about it, and it hasn't been a problem for me. I tend to go downtown to eat, walk along "main street" (which is white street by the way) or go to holding park, and I don't have difficulty parking.
I really enjoy living in wake forest, it does have a nice friendly atmosphere, and there are lots of things to do for kids. There are enough "shopping" things that I don't have to leave wake forest to do much of anything, except the mall on occasion.
Anyhow, email me if you more questions.

I have to agree with everyone else that says that there is no real influx of students at the Seminary at anytime. Sure, the Seminary itself tries to influence things (do a search on other Wake Forest threads for more background if you want).....but they keep to themselves otherwise.
It's a nice area.....We really like it...close enough to most things. You can live on the outskirts for a rural feel....or more 'in town' for a city feel...just depends on where in WF you live.
There is more the Wake Forest then just families, but yes, it's a good place to live.

We are moving into Crenshaw Hall in WF. We are very excited about the move and the area. I will be working in RTP and making the commute, but I think its worth the trade off for the area. I think the college is very low key (which I think has its good and bad aspects). Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions. Thanks.

Yes, the area near the seminary is busier this time of year.

I've lived here for almost 5 years and have yet to find the college season. Maybe your information is from someone that confused Wake Forest with that other Wake Forest located West of here on Rt40. Easy mistake for those that don't live here.
IMO Wake Forest is all that you mentioned as is many of the communities in the greater Triangle area.

No, I'm talking about the seminary in WF (the campus of the old Wake Forest college, now located in Winston - Salem and known as Wake Forest University). A few weeks ago the area around the campus was deserted - now it is full of activity... I noticed b/c my daughter is playing a fall sport at the high school, and its hard to not notice the increase of cars, people, etc. around the seminary campus.
