Second Chance pet adoptions at secondchancenc.org, or IAR (Independent Animal Rescue of Durham). One of these organizations will help you. If you tell them you're taking the dog to the shelter my guess is they'll try to find a foster home for it (granted the dog passes an aggression test). The shelters are terribly packed and yes, euthanization is a likelyhood based on shelter space/occupancy but even IF an adopter is found by the shelter, animals in the meantime can pick up a number of deadly diseases while staying in the shelters (even though most shelters are really great about conisitently cleaning with bleach it's just the nature of the business, they get outbreaks). Also, I would try listing your dog on petfinder.com (if they let individual parties list, I'm not sure).

This link contains links to all sorts of information. It really does look like there are a number of not very difficult steps you can take here to make it possible to take your dog back to the UK with you - assuming you really want to.

This is the same process I posted at the start of the thread.. if you read through it , a blood test has to be done and the dog cannot enter the UK until 6 months after the blood test... so yes there is a quarantine.... just not one once you get to the UK.

You cant list as an individual but sometimes if you contact a rescue group they will list your dog as a courtesy.

Good luck!
