I know! Crazy, in an awesome kind of way. Thanks for reviving this. It's funny to look back at things a year ago.

nice. I'm leaving tomorrow just because I happen to get a chance to get a week off, so it's either go now in late October or not at all. As long as the sun's out I don't care if it's in the 30's or whatever climbing to harney peak. Not having been there in like 10+ years I hardly remember anything unless I do the driving myself, so I want to compare my enjoyment of it to my enjoyment of west central WI, which are both about the same distance from this location.

Don't wait! Go for it now! Heck, go this weekend!! :-) I wanted to get up there this month. That was what I was planning and it hasn't been able to work out financially. Cars breaking down, and other extra misc expenses screwed it all up. I will keep on trying though!

Well a couple years back I ended up at the Mayo clinic for a week... Between appointments My folks and I would head out on some sort of adventure... One day trip was a run over towards the Mississippi and up the Wisconsin side to Red Wing. Then back to Rochester. It was a fun trip except it was the great white north in middle of freaking February.

I want to go back in the fall or sometime when it is warmer. Both areas are pretty in their own right. Both have qualities I enjoy.

But I am enjoying life in the hills. If we end up moving it will be further west.

I want to move out to the hills or maybe the Denver area so bad, I just don't see getting another job like mine that pays what it does for the relatively light work it entails, unless I transfer to another 3M plant, and there aren't any in the hills. I'd have to settle for Cottage Grove, MN or Springfield, MO.. to be happy with the climate or terrain. Do like Rochester, would not mind Cottage grove area at all, love the area around Winona, MN.

Really there's tons of beautiful country in the US, from coast to coast.. a climate for everyone, literally. A terrain for everyone, culture and style of living for everyone. I would argue that the eastern Dakotas are among the least appealing in the country from a climate and geographic standpoint, but meh that's life.

Default South Dakota trip pictures

I liked your pictures of your trip to South Dakota in the Black Hills. My wife and I took a trip there a few years ago. Your pictures made me want to go back again. I must confess that I am happy that you had a good time, but I am also trying out the new speech recognition software program called Dragon. I am" writing" this using my voice.

I hope you and your family have many more pleasant visits like this. I will keep working on learning this new program.

Franco
