He was a man filled with hate. I hate to catch him on a day when he was REALLY angry!

the begging on the month is nothing compared to the 9th / 10th... thats the EBT recharge date. or you are referring to the EBT date and not welfare, but nonetheless, EBT's effect on this store is far worse then welfare.
its not that theres a lot of people living on EBT, its the ones that use EBT to buy soda, cookies, junk food, and other food of little nutritional value that upsets me. oh well, not much i can do in my position to change that.

Yeah, I bet you are right! When I was working for the cable company in Omaha I would go into these nasty homes. These people would have nothing, but boy would they have a ton of soda and chips with salsa for their football party. I just knew that they didn't pay for it.

I wish they would make people who are on any kind of state help take a drug test in order to receive any form of financial assistance. I have to take a drug test in order to have my job and receive a paycheck that I work very hard for, they should have to at least meet that requirement.

I had to revive this thread to see if the walmart supercenter is still slated to have ground broken this spring? Sounds like quite the zoo at the current wally-hell there in town around the beginning of the month!!!

This is still in planning stages? Why would anyone want a second Wal-mart with the junk they peddle? What the hell do they buy at Wal-mart that you can't get at a local grocery store?
I agree with the 'angry' guy. He's right.

yes, its still in the planning stages.
and by anyone, if you mean the vast majority of voters in rapid city, we want another store because:
the current store is way over crowded. we still shop there because the basic merchandise (house hold supplies, groceries, pharmaceuticals, socks, ect) is at reasonable a price, and most residents in western south Dakota can budget for it. we also want one because they are the only retailer that caters to the B society (by being open past 10). we want another store for convince.
what do we buy at a walmart that you cant get at a local grocery store? well besides the fact that they stock more then the average grocery store, nothing really. just the same merchandise at a price that doesn't hurt our pocket books.... and besides that, if by local you mean locally owned grocery store, there are very VERY few of those in the area.

I'm a realist. I shop at the store with the best bargains. If it's Wally World, so be it. Rapid City is getting big enough that they should have a second store. Wal-Mart offers jobs.
I realize the some folks won't shop there and that is really up to the individural. I get my canned goods there, I figure Cambells soup is cambells soup, regardless of the store. I don't get clothes there, I want an American Flag on the tag.
So, yes, I shop at Wal-Mart. Somebody has to keep those Chinese employed.

When my wife and I were up in Rapid over Valentines weekend, we walked in there on a Tuesday around 10:30 AM and OMG it was like a Friday night or a weekend trip to a Wal-Mart back here in Omaha. They were slammed! I already knew this from all of our other trips there including when we lived in Rapid in 2009. I couldn't understand what the rush was for. It was the middle of the month and only 10:30 AM, what could be the rush? We didn't see what would be obvious as "welfare people" or people living off the government....it just seemed like everyone was there shopping at the same time. I got to thinking about it....In Omaha and the suburbs of Omaha, we have 11 Wal-Mart stores to pick from. Basically, depending on what part of town you live in, you can find a Wal-Mart. Never is it as busy at these locations as it is almost everyday at Rapid's Wal-Mart. So in conclusion I think they should get that new store built. It will imo drastically cut down the population at the one and only store you have now. Also, the jobs it will create will be good for the city. And that's just the beginning. Here in Omaha when a new Wal-Mart goes up, there is ALWAYS stores that pop up all around them too. Once Rapid has a second store built, there may be even more jobs created with stores that come up around it. It's a win win....more jobs, more money and less crowding at one store. If it was a vote, I'd be IN!
