I just read in another thread that there is a Wal-Mart being built somewhere in Rapid City. Awesome! Does anyone know where it is located? Anywhere near Canyon Lake by chance?
They have been talking of a new wal-mart for about the last 6 years. It seems there is always some sort of problem. Zoning, developer, neighbors or whatever else.
The talk is it would be built on the South Side of Rapid. Either Highway 16 and Catron or 5th Street and catron BVLD. Nothing yet. No land surveys or dirt moved or anything like that.
There is a new Sams club being built close to Rushmore Crossings.
I could care less about wal-mart. Since moving back I've only been there once. I much prefer Target.
I'd shop at target more if they made the East side Sioux Falls one a super target, I think it's like the Rapid City one where is has like 75% of the super center parts...If you're going to build a new target, why not just make it a full super target instead of a 75% one? lol
I do not think we need another Wal-mart in town anywhere. Wal-mart simply kills local businesses. I like the downtown shops and small retail stores we have here in Rapid City. The convenience of having everything at one store like Wal-mart draws people in and the little stores die.
In the time I've been back only been to Wal-mart once. That was because it was late and Target was closed.
The grocery stores in Rapid are mostly owned by corporations that have their headquartes in some large City. Family Thrift owned by Nash Finch a Minneapolis based company. Safeway is based in Alemeda Cali...
Dakotamart is still locally owned but they are not in Rapid
I love to go to walmart to people watch.Around the first is the best time.
I have had my fill of freaks of nature... I ain't ready for that just yet.
