I moved here without a job, but had a place lined up to live. I rented an apartment sight unseen. It took about 3 months for me to find a job, and I was able to do it because I moved first with my husband coming after me.
I would suggest that you line up housing first since you still have time to do so, and at least try to schedule some interviews right before you make the move if you can't make a trip out to house/job hunt. Do you have a few months of living expenses saved up? Depending on what you do, it may take longer to find employment than you are anticipating even though SD has a low unemployment rate. I thought I'd find work within a week or two and was a bit surprised when I didn't.
What kind of work do you do? What area are you moving to?
