I don't care for Hardee's or any of that ilk. I am not a fast food fan. I am really not a chain fan either. Now a really great sea food place would be much to my liking. However, I am the only one in my house who thinks so...
Trader Joe's, Whole Foods... these would both make me feel better about moving to Rapid City. We are moving there in a few months and I am desperately sad to lose both of these places. Are there any natural foods stores? I'm scared.
There are some natural food places. Staple and Spice Market, Breadroot Co-Op, Main Street Market and Bountiful Baskets Co-Op all come to mind. There's also a farmer's market in the summertime. There are some organic and natural selections in the supermarkets too, but the supermarket organic produce tends to be pretty sad-looking.

Imagine a Whole Foods in Rapid City. People would look at the prices and run back to WalMart. The Twin Cities are one of the most health-conscious and liberal metros in the United States and we only have two Whole Foods stores here. Not likely.

Hence Whole Foods' nickname, which is Whole Paycheck.
One of the things I notice with Sioux Falls especially is all the chain stores and restaurants. Rapid in comparison wets themselves bigtime when something like Texas Roadhouse or the Longhorn or Famous Dave's shows up. All three don't really impress me.
Now I'd rather saddle up and run up to Hill City eat at the Alpine.
I was noticing all the commercial space available near Kohls, the old runnings store, across the street from the old Running's. There is almost becoming a glut of commercial space, and many spots have been there for 4 years and never occupied.
I hope this isn't the case on the south side.
