Hi, I was hoping someone could give me a insight to the Utility Bill costs there? We are looking to plan our retirement somewhere in the Rapid City Area. Thank you

I pay $250 per month for electricity, $31 per mo for trash pick-up, and probably $150 per yr for propane which we use for cooking and a fireplace. We live south of Hot Springs, but I know of no reason why the bills should be a lot different north of here.

They're not cheap I can tell you that.

For a 2000 square ft home

Electricity is $100/month in the winter and $200 in high summer.

Gas - heat and hot water - $100/month in winter and $30 in summer

Cable internet is 45/month

Water/Sewer trash is about 70-80 month in winter and can easily be over a hundred in summer if you do any watering. $150 if you water a lot. Also water bills will be increasing 10% year for the next 10 years.

Are there all-electric homes up there? It may be just me, but I don't trust gas. Been in an all-electric home here in TX since the 90s.

Yes, There are lots of them. A system called cove heating is popular in Hot Springs. The system consists of an electric heater and thermostat for each room. The heater mounts on a wall. You can regulate the heat at different temps in each room.
