Hi Chewy, I'll leave the opinions to the Rapid locals when they get here. Have you ever been to the Hills? They are booming during the summertime and almost any business would be able to thrive during that time. It's absolutely beautiful out there. Just wanted you to know that I'm glad you're looking at So. Dak.

There was a BBQ resturaunt in the Holy Terror in Keystone two years ago that had great food and piled the plate with enough chow that doggy bags were the norm. The place was always packed. Unfortunatly due to one partner in the business cleaning out the bank account and skipping country ,the place folded. But now there is another BBQ resturaunt opening in the same place this year. A new raised platform on the back of the building for the BBQ grill/smoker was just installed a couple of days ago along with a new grill/smoker. Another BBQ resturaunt down the hill in Rapid City should do well . To the best of my knowledge ,other than a Mongolian BBQ , there are no other BBQ joints in Rapid. As long as the food is tastey and the prices not crazy , An American (be it Chi Town , Looseyanna , Texas ,etc.style) BBQ resturaunt in Rapid should do well all year long, since Rapid is growing and has enough year round population to easily support a BBQ joint that serves good chow. If you build it and the food is yummy , they will come.

Talking There is a great BBQ joint in rapid!

When I was in SD, I ate at the new place in the Holy Terror. It's called adventures in barbecue. It was GREAT!!! I thought I had good bbq in Kansas City, but this place beat out all! I talked to one of the owners, Michael and he said they have another place in Rapid. I asked him if they would open up in Minneapolis and to my surprise he used to own one here but it's called Ted Cook's 19hole BBQ.....I eat there all the time!
