I work in Las Vegas. Like any big city our crime rates can run over 50 to 1 between zip codes. Over 100 to 1 in individual neighborhoods. It can in fact got compicated as we have places where a 1/2 mile may change the crime rate 20 to 1. I tell my clients where the house they are buying stands. And sometimes they buy it anyway. 35% lower price for the same house may well justify a 10X crime increase. But it is the clients choice not mine. Note I think that may well be a good choice. Even in bad neighborhoods the odds of actually being involved are small. Ten times bigger than a very small number is still a small number.

I have wanted to be a realtor for almost 15 years but I kept putting it off, mostly because my family kept telling me I could never be successful at it. I was OK with other jobs, but didn't really decided to get my RE license until I was taken advantage of by one agent, then totally turned off by another agents lack of professionalism. My goal is to show everyone I have the honor of working with that there are agents who care about more than the money. I want everyone I work with to be a "raving fan", not just a quick deal.

Here, here Tish. Exactly the way I have always felt. I have a reputation that I want to keep and keep it well. I want to be happy to say my name to callers and not be embarrassed ot ashamed of any past contacts with others. I want to be able to sleep at night knowing that I have done a good job that day and hopefully helped someone realize a dream, not a nightmare. You have the right stuff! A plus for ya!

Why I became a REALTOR...
I was transferred from Maryland to Florida about 15 years ago and although I loved my new town and state... it wasn't the easiest adjustment in the beginning. I spent many months in an apartment trying to decide which area of town would best fit my family and their needs. After years had gone by... one day I woke up and thought... I'd love to help other people who are moving into the area... maybe I can make it a little bit easier on them and so... here I am! I've always loved helping people so I think this was the right move for me.
Take care...

Marsha - It's nice to see other Realtor's out there that believe in our jobs being one of helping others.....serving others.....and not just a sales job. I truly love what I do and try very hard to set myself apart. I let God guide my steps and my path and trust that He will provide the business if I will trust and depend on Him.
God Bless!

The best of all worlds...
When I moved back to Hawaii, this time the Big Island, I found myself involved in a few renovation projects and assisting an East Coast acquaintance search for investment property. So when an opportunity to work as a personal assistant to the broker-in-charge of an active local office presented itself, I jumped in, became licensed and eventually became an active agent.
As a former teacher, I love my work because of the opportunity to 'teach' clients...sharing information that is vital to their personal and financial success. The job also requires a high level of organization and dedication, but offers flexibility, which is important to me--I will never be an 8-5 desk job type. Most importantly, I truly love living in Hawaii, and working with folks moving to the islands is such a pleasure. There are many things unique to island real-estate, and, along the way, I get to introduce people to this wonderful place they are hoping to call home!
Mahalo (thank you) for asking the question...it has been fun reading the stories of each person who has shared!

Tish my cousin was a realtor in NJ & didn't survive....she couldn't handle it because deals fell through. This business can be rewarding & profitable and my broker gave me the best advice ever....always put your clients first and the money will follow.
Most of my business has been through referrals from previous clients now.
