My firm was a "team" and now is a "realty group". I think the Broker/Owner thinks that realty group sounds more professional.

When I see team or partners, I immediately think in terms of two agents working together with possibly an assistant. Group seems to imply a larger organization in my opinion.

I advertise myself even though I have a team, but I do refer it as "Team".

The wife and I go by "Team Thomas" on our cards and signs. I'll be the first to admit it is a little cheesy.

"Group" does sound more professional.

I favor the term "partners". It sounds very professional and can include two people or twenty. But I may be biased because I am both a Realtor and an attorney, so I am accustomed to hearing "partner" as a prestigous designation.

I don't like partner because it implies equals. If it's a team with a leader then partner should not be used.

In my little tiny office, we work as a team because we have to cover the 24/7 aspect of the business and still have a life. We don't sell ourselves as a team to anyone, until we get face to face with them and explain our business practices to them.

There are several "teams" in our MLS and quite frankly, all I get from them professionally is a peer that has a very unfriendly and very un-peerlike attitude.

That being said, if I had to cast a vote it would be for partners. I'm also thinking that after the past 5 years of the business, any name that still stands has got to have some cachet in the market. Rebranding at this point would seem to me to be a marketing faux pas.
