I have read it is possible for a broker to make 6 figures not selling any properties but by recruiting agents and charging them fees and or getting a percentage of their commissions.

In a large office that's certainly true. If a broker has 40 agents working for him, he could easily make that kind of money.

Buying a franchise doesn't guarantee you would be able to recruit, train and support enough agents to make that happen, especially if you are a new broker. If I were an agent, I'd want my broker to have a substantial amount of experience before I signed up with them.

On the flip side, if your a really good agent, you want to work for a broker who will take the least amount of commission. You could care less who the broker is.

I know BICs who make my skin crawl, and no commission split would make it worth hanging my license under theirs.

Really good agents prefer to surround themselves with other really good people.

IMO this is totally bad advice. The best want only the best which leads to success for both parties involved.
