All the ads Ive seen on Indeed and Craigslist want 3-5 years as a real estate paralegal, not just as a paralegal. How to get your foot in the door to start getting some Real Estate Paralegal experience? Help.
Will have my AA in Paralegal Studies within the next 3 years (working and taking classes part time). Thanks.

Get a job with a real estate firm/agency, and get moved into the position from within.

No...REL paras work for Lawyers at firms. Sounds like you dont work in the field. Not sure why you're answering this post. Thumbs down.

I am currently working while I'm in school, and I have no plans to quit current job. It is not in banking, finance or real estate but it is secure and it works REALLY
well with my school schedule, and I'm good at it. Its not my longterm career goal because the ability to make more than I'm making now is limited. Whereas a REL para can make a good deal more than I would make in my current job full-time, even ten years down the road.

To restate my question: Is it better to take any paralegal job for 3-5 years and hope to do a lateral transfer to RE law or should I try to get into RE law right away and what are the best ways to network for that? Informational interviews seem like a nuisance to ask someone to do for me as a favor, but people keep advising me thats the way to go. What do you think (not you, dpfj) ?

The problem is I dont see any openings for entry level REL paras online. Are there legal or paralegal publications that would help me network this?
Thanks in advance for QUALIFIED opinions.

Not a QUALIFIED opinion but shouldn't you ask this in a Legal forum ?

It might look better on a resume that states you've taken a law class or two. Maybe, and I'm not an expert, but maybe a real estate law firm would want someone to know what they're doing and understanding the situation, so law classes and real estate classes might get your foot further in a door.

I thought a Paralegal was when two lawyers get married. 2 Legals make a Paralegal.
