(Reuters) - Rupert Murdoch's News Corp said it would buy Move Inc, the owner of property websites such as realtor.com, for about $950 million to expand its digital marketing business.
I'm of the opinion (today) that it's a sellout of an industry that took many years to mature. Are there existing problems? Yes. Will this be better? Doubtful. Similar scenario to what insurance has done to healthcare.
And now NAR is asking for input on a closed end question survey...after the fact.

I expect Rupert, who's known for his compassionate practice of business, to play nice with the Point2 and Listhub feeds to Zillow and Trulia that he now controls. He has no intention of upsetting the cart. Nah. Just kidding. This could get really interesting. We are but ants in the ant farm.
Prior to the deal, I felt Realtor.com was a lost cause. Now I think it has hope. Rupert Murdoch is not in the business of losing. He's also not perfect (MySpace for example).

Zillow spokesperson Katie Curnutte told GeekWire that if listings from ListHub were removed from Zillow today, the service would lose “a few hundred thousand” listings out of the 3.6 million on its site that it doesn’t receive through any other channel. That’s why Zillow is launching the Data Dashboard. Curnutte said that the company’s preference is to get up-to-date data from agents and brokers directly through the new system, rather than relying on deals with third parties like ListHub.
If it's only a few hundred thousand that it doesn't receive "through any other channel", then I have to question where they are scraping their data from, and whether Move/Murdoch will shut many of those channels down as well.
If Listhub sends the IDX feed to 60 sites (really more like several hundred), and removes Zillow from the list....Zillow can and obviously WILL still get the feed from one of the other sites.
And I scoff at her quote that Zillow prefers "to get up-to-date data from agents and brokers directly..." because what they really mean is they want you to have correct your own data at Zillow so they don't have to get current and accurate feeds from all the various MLS's, or Listhub.
