Hi, I have just completed my Real Estate Sales Person Course and now in the process of finding a Broker to work with. I have interviewed with ReMax, Keller Williams, Coldwell Banker and Wiechert. They all are keen to bring me on board, but I am at a loss. Each firm has promised training which is key, desk fees range considerably, same with commission splits. What is paramount to myself is an accessible mentor, ethics and helping me to find my feet as a new agent. I believe this is a crucial first step in my new career and its becoming a difficult decision since each firm very different. I would love to hear from anyone who might shed some light in making a choice as a new agent or is there a company l have though of as yet. Many thanks.

You may want to establish yourself before you go with a company that charges desk fees; you may sell houses right away or you may not sell anything until the spring. You already have to pay your mls and association dues, buy lock boxes, a "key" and other supplies. It gets expensive.

Good luck!

Here is a fact to consider as you choose. While sshurgot certainly has a point, according the NAR, 80% of all rookie agents will "churn". That is they will quit, or change offices within their first two years. That statistic, while still high, is only 70% of RE/MAX agents.
.
If you have the financial capital, drive, and discipline to be successful, you can achieve greater numbers with most RE/MAX brokers. Certainly, not all. All real estate is local (you'll hear that again) and selection of the best broker for a rookie to affiliate with certainly is. So none of us can honestly give you the best advice for your market.
