I was looking at the National Association of Exclusive Buyer Agents website and was intrigued by the concept. After talking with them, they told me that the entire office has to be Buyers Agents, No listings permitted. This doesn't fit my current business model at all, but who knows perhaps it would work.
Does anyone here have any experience with this model? In a small market like mine, I'm thinking the other real estate company in town could have the listings and I'll do the selling. Aside from the obvious FTC problems in doing something like this, opinions about the whole EBA model would be appreciated.

DMenscha, I'm familiar with the business model and know a couple of people that worked as Exclusive Buyer Agents for a while. They don't anymore and said basically it cuts your market in half and severely affects future repeat business and referrals. They don't seem to offer any increased value for the service that isn't already provided by a good professional realtor.
The biggest problem with that model is that buyers shop homes, not agents. If you don't carry listings then you'll have a more difficult time attracting buyer leads. Buyer agents have their time controlled by buyers and have limited ceilings. Listing agents can take on more business.
I have someone that works with me that I refer my excess buyer leads to. I can't say exclusive buyers agent for the reasons you outline, but in my marketing I list him as a "Buyer Specialist" because that is mostly what he does.
