Hello,

I have toyed with the idea of having one website where i can direct satisfied clients to leave a review/recommendation.

I not sure which website would be the best for something life this. the options are zillow, trulia, and realtor.com, yelp.

i saw one realtor on zillow or trulia. she had about 50 positive reviews. below that though, she had maybe 7 listings, and like 15 sold in recent history. im pretty sure that the reviews have some weight.

im interested in your opinions. thank you in advance

My opinion:

I never ask for reviews. People give me referrals and references and repeat business when I do my job. I know that is a little old school, but the trend of every dang website and service provider and retailer hounding people for reviews has gotten on my last nerve.

That's my "opinion." I have no "advice."

Hang in here.
Someone who operates differently from me will come around and chime in.

I give my clients the opportunity to review me. I don't recommend Yelp because they hide reviews. I give them Zillow and Trulia.

Here is my opinion on asking for reviews...you need to send the same email asking for a review whether or not the transaction went well or not. You need to send the same email asking for a review whether or not you and your clients got along. If you ask for reviews have some integrity about it. Give it to ALL your clients.

Some people are afraid of doing that, but I'm of the opinion that if someone didn't like your service that is of value to another consumer. Generally you didn't get along well with that client and if you can help similar personality styles rule you out, then you will end up with a more targeted consumer base that loves you. That is the point of online reviews, IMO. Help consumers rule you in, or out if needed, so they don't waste time in a bad service relationship.

I agree with Mike.

Not that it's RE related, but I bought a couple of bicycles off Amazon recently and the boxes arrived with a sticker on each box that offered a $10 discount / coupon on the next purchase if I went to Amazon and gave the seller a 5-star rating.

It's like getting paid to write them a positive review.

And, no, I didn't take the bait.

Last fall, I got a flooring quote that included a $500 discount for a positive review on FB.
Used another company.

Last month, I saw a drawing for $250 from a lender who offered to enter people who liked her FB page.

I cannot buy dang batteries at Staples without getting an email requesting a review.
Lockbox at Lowes.
Canned Air at Staples.
Come off it, people!

Reviews mean nothing to me.

You mean like the totally odd ones that people give you on LinkedIn? Are you afraid of getting bad reviews?

no im would be opposed to bad reviews.

i think a bad review mixed with good reviews makes it more legitimate.

so most of you are opposed to any reviews for realtors?
