I've had my license in referral status in Virginia for over ten years. I have to pay a firm to keep me as a referral agent and I have to do my continuing education/ licensing fees to the state but it keeps me active without really being active. And every so often I get a pretty passive income by making a referral... Texas may have the same possibility.
It probably depends on what you mean by inactive. Inactive as in you haven't done any CE or paid any fees in years or inactive as in you are all up to date but aren't affiliated with a firm. You will have to find out from Texas but be sure you know what your actual status is.
