Aloha all,

Wondering what stories you might have in regard to showings in bad weather?

I had a showing scheduled yesterday and the Big Island was under Flash Flood Warning. Went ahead with showing--client is local and familiar with our weather (Hilo is one of the wettest places in the country, heavy and intense rainfall not uncommon, sometimes for a few days a time). We got to the house in pouring rain, looked around upstairs and all was well--no evidence of water damage or leaks.

Then....downstairs to the unfinished basement with one permitted bonus room. At the bottom of the stairs, 4 inches of water!

There was a large hole in the hollow tile foundation in the back corner of the basement and there was water bubbling up between cracks in the cement. Bonus room was carpeted, but had about an inch of standing water. Water was pouring out the side door into the covered carport area.

Needless to say...client wasn't too impressed. Sad thing...it is a great old home.
