Please let us know if this works! Very nice of you to try
I've had to call UPS a bunch of time after I bought my last house and gifts (housewarming, I presume) started arriving for the previous owner. It took a lot of time and effort on my part to call UPS every time to pick the stuff up and redeliver. I got pretty tired of it but after the first month or so it stopped.

Wanted to add my 2 cents for what it is worth! The former owners of our house told us they were moving out of the country (Taiwan - where they were born), but gave us no forwarding address. Two days after we moved in, the sister of the owner called (I had never met her) and said - there would be a FedEx delivery coming to our house and she was going to stop by to pick it up the next day.

I didn't know what to say - it took me offguard - so I just said - well, okay. The delivery came and the woman picked it up. (She gave me no phone # to call - just showed up about 6 pm). Meanwhile, we continued to get mail addressed to the former owners in our mailbox.

The next week, again the sister calls and says a FedEx will be delivered and she will come by to pick it up. I thought - no way. I said - why aren't you having this stuff delivered to YOUR HOUSE? She said it was a mix-up and she would be by to pick it up. I said - no, that is not convenient for me. If a FedEx gets delivered here, just give me your address and I will have them deliver it there. She kept arguing so I hung up.

The next day, my son came in and said - Mom, there is some woman out there going thru/ the mail in our mailbox! Sure enuff, there was the sister going thru/ my mail!!!! And yes, there was still stuff coming to our address. I tried to run up the driveway to stop her, but by the time I got halfway up the drive (yelling) she was speeding off in her car.

I called the Post Office and they said - no change of address had been entered, and they would just start returning the mail - no forwarding address known. The FedEx package came and I was luckily at the door to greet the guy and refuse it.

Then came the UPS deliveries, wh/ I also had to refuse or call UPS to come pick up if I didn't catch the delivery at the door. This continued for several months.

Now, it is over five years later and the mail still shows up every so often. In January, a Sheriff's deputy showed up at the door. He had a warrant for the former home owner. I explained he had not lived here for 5 years. I said - we keep getting mail for him still. The deputy said - well this is from the Secretary of State for NC - tax evasion - and they would appreciate any info I could give them as to the man's whereabouts. Nothing I could help them with - even the sister never gave me her phone number (and it had showed up as anonymous when she had called me).

So - even tho I know your situation doesn't involve something illegal - best to just disengage on every level you can - stop the deliveries rather than hand delivering - cause you really do not want to be the middle man - someone could accuse you of intercepting something valuable, etc. - Just call all you need to call to keep yourself at arm's length.

Good luck!!!!

Second week get two more packages. Did same as above and asked the realtor to remind her seller to change her address.
Thirs week (today) get two more packages! I did same as above but this time was a little irritated about the entire thing. These are work related packages so I know they are important (I know this b/c I know who she works for out of state and
they are coming from these companies)
Here is the thing...I am tired of emailing the agent to have her tell Mrs seller to come get her stuff and to change her address. PLUS, I feel responsible for these packages and honestly, I have enough responsibility with toddler twins, a husband, a dog and a cat...She doesn't pick them up the same day so we bring the packages in at night...and then sometimes forget to put them back out in the morning...
Am I out of line for being annoyed? I am not her UPS woman! Is there anything I can do? Not like UPS comes everyday and I can just write on the packages Return to Sender...
I am generally a nice person and willing to help out, but I have had enough. Am I obligated to hold onto this stuff?
we have lived in our house for 4 years now, and still get mail for the previous owner lol.

39 years and still counting... mostly around the Holidays...

The former owner lives in a Nursing Home on my way to work and is quite elderly... always glad to see me and very grateful for the contact...

I agree, best to refuse mail and packages if you do not know the addressee.

A colleague from work found the police had a warrant to search her home of 5 weeks... seems the son of the former owners had a warrant out for his arrest

UPS, that's different. And you have NO responsibility for anything that UPS leaves on your property. That's their problem and the problem of the previous owner.
Destroying mail is not a LOL situation. In fact, it is a federal offense to tamper with someone else's mail.
