I really think you misread what I said. What I said was to ask the broker to assist in the purchase of her home as part of her training (she's NEW and would NEED guidance which would be part of her training) OR ask another sales associate to assist her for a set fee. Such as a small split or set fee to compensate them for their time.
There is nothing unusual about that.

I got through it all in 3 weeks and was back to looking for a home. The BEST part was that I had MLS access and could go whenever I wanted to look at homes. I must have looked at a 100 homes. Both my boyfriend and I loved the fact that we were on our own.

I didn't do any transactions when I had my license before, I only had heard of several experiences of my friend who was a realtor. I understood the basics of how buying a house goes and had the help of a great broker. We ended up finding our home and had a successful close and I made my commission. We were very happy.

I say do it yourself! The freedom is wonderful and it's nice to have a big check coming to you when you sign.
As a real estate licensee, I caution people in representing themselves. Buying or selling a home (not investment real estate) is an emotional matter and while education is extremely important, having another non-emotionally involved professional to help can be very rewarding.
