The heirs (hubby and 4 sibs) might have been able to decline it had we'd known what a problem it was, probably would have involved attorney fees, sibling consensus etc.

Time Shares became quite the rage in the early '80's (that I remember) and lots of our friends and family bought into them.
Now there is a whole industry created to deal with them (time share exchange programs) or ditch them (attorneys specializing in time share disputes).

Never. Again.
You were very smart to dump that albatross, had you not, you would still be paying for it.

When I was trying to get rid of the In-Laws TS, I found tons of sites trying to do the same thing.
Sell My TS.com, or a variation thereof, came up dozens of times....."70% off of 50,000 Time Share" options.

Local churches, in the In-Laws area of Florida, were onto it too. They offered to take it off our hands for a 10K donation to the church.

You did the prudent thing!

I was reading that if one simply stops paying their dues, they could get sued by the timeshare resort company. I'm just trying to help someone out but never mind. LOL.

We dumped our Waikiki timeshare back with the sellers. They gladly took it and we had no more payments to make. We finally figured out that the maintenance fee, the payment and the upkeep fee was more than we paid to go to Waikiki normally.
