Has anybody taken the Coldwell banker howard perry real estate exam in Raleigh, NC? Was it easy or hard?

Real estate exams in NC are easy.
That's why you can't swing a short stick in Wake County without hitting a licensed agent in the eye.

Mike..
Sorry.. I just HAD to laugh at your comment. I just went thru a JY Monk Broker PL class in Raleigh.

I'll say this.. the class was FULL (about 80 students) and everyone passed.

The instructor was really good and kept things interesting and fluid. she had a knack at real world applications and encouraged feedback from the class where applicable.

Before I forget my original point..
I drove through Cary one of the nights I was staying in Raleigh. Cary town planners/council certainly looks to have 'future vision' first and foremost in their mind!

Not sure how I feel about the 'blandness' of signage, but OTOH, it was kind of refreshing, especially after seeing the hodge podge of signage here in Myrtle Beach.

I saw four really neat things while in Cary...
1) Bond park - looked really nice!
2) The Shiess (sp?) house on High Horse Road....
3) The Circus
4) The nicest looking Lowe's I've EVER seen. Can't recall what cross streets it was on.. but I could tell it was new. It was on the way from High Horse Rd to The Circus.

Wake County can't grow that much more, can it? Not sure if you recall when Cary used to have total separation from the 'Capital City'. WOW.. how times have changed!

I guess there was a duplicate post in the other Real Estate forum here. I am considering the course so that I can do property management. Is that a good idea? Has anyone else obtained brokers license here in NC in order to do property management rather than sales?

Lowes is at the corner of NC-54 (Chapel Hill Rd) and Maynard. Bond Park is off of High House. Nor familiar with the Shiess house but there's probably a good chance it's on High House Rd as well

jinxor,
You should check into how you will get your two year's work under a broker-in-charge to get into property management as an independent, if that is what you want.

I think good property management on a persoanl basis is a need, but it is also a lot of work for many small sums.

But I have noticed your general real estate interest, and suggest you take the course if time is not an issue. It is not expensive, and I found it quite interesting!

Mike, I'd give ya rep points but I gotta spread em around before I rep ya again. Yeah, I have approached my real estate broker about possibly working for her, but obviously haven't committed to anything since I wasn't sure about doing the course yet. Since it's only 75 hours, I think I'll try to do it this month at the local FM school.

Property management is a ton of work for small sums (here in the Triangle I think it's going to be roughly $1000 a year per property) however, I am already managing two residential rental properties (my own) and I'm interested in learning how to do it more effectively and possibly manage properties for family/friends from out-of-state.

At present, the sales (both listings and the buyer agency) aspects do not appeal to me in the least. My mom is a real estate agent in my hometown and tells me these horror stories all the time. I really have a great deal of admiration for the amount of !@#$ that you guys go through.

Daniel

Daniel,
I chose listing/selling over property management...

I bet your JY Monk instructor was Deb Carpenter!

Cary is slated to top out at about 225,000 according to the ?1990?1995? Master Plan. That is about 100,000 more than today.
Yes, a lot of people have told me that Cary was a place you took a Sunday drive to 40 years ago...
