Can anyone recommend some real estate schools/courses for a Colorado real estate license. I think I would prefer an on-line course. Is there really much difference in the courses, other than the price? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You really should consider taking your classes in person. You learn so much more from your instructor when you are in front of them. You learn the real ins and outs of the field that you will NEVER learn from online. The courses teach you the laws, the instructor teaches you how to actually sell a home.

I think that licensing classes through jr. colleges may give you more insight into HOW to do the business. I think the experience of most agents, myself included, has been that the pre-licensing classes typically teach you how to pass the state licensing exam. Period. As with any certification/license, etc, be it accounting (CPA), engineering (EIT), insurance or real estate - there's usually a big gap between passing the test and actually conducting business. Sorry to say, most of the pre-licensing classes do not equip agents to properly conduct business.

I gained so much in my first couple of years by taking continuing ed classes, especially the GRI classes (additional 90 hrs of instruction that teach you how to do a business plan, how to fulfill your fiduciary duty to your clients, how to strictly adhere to the NAR code of ethics, etc.).

Also, if I had it to do over again, I would definitely look to sign on with a company that emphasizes training (and that doesn't charge you an arm & a leg for it). I've found those are the companies that value their agents the most and want to see them succeed in the business.

I know there's a couple of agents on the forum who are from the Denver area. Maybe they can give you some insight into which r.e. schools are the best in Colorado.

Best wishes to you on launching a successful real estate carreer!

I would go to Armbrust-rei in Greenwood Village a drive from the springs - any class from Betty is a real eye opener. A real Colorado treasure.

I am not sure about what are available in your area but go to your states real estate commission site and they can maybe help you I do know that I just finished a 75 hr pre course and it is NOT something you want to do online. you only have 75 hrs in which to fill your brain with an enormous amount of information!!!! In most cases thein class tuition is only $25-$50 more and you can take evening or weekend classes
