Are certain times of the year busier with corporate relocations or not? Just curious if these things fall in line with the timing of other important corporate dates, such as end of fiscal year, calendar year or school year. Generally, how much advance notice does a company give a relocated employee to find a house and make the move? Thanks for any insight you can provide.

My area is popular with inbound transferees. The majority are accomplished during the Summer months so that the new owners are in place, by the start of the school year.

The period between Halloween and February is generally the slowest.

Corporatations have been cutting back on relocation benefits for the past two decades. Whereas it used to be common to get a buy-out , it no longer is so. Many people are finding themselves in situations where the transferred employee takes up residence in temporary quarters while waiting for their house to sell. The transferred employee has tons of time to shop the area because they are not in a position to buy anything until they get a solid contract on their current home.

It's a new market and the old rules of thump no longer necessarily apply.
