I think that's a great idea. I would prefer to initiate contact with a realtor on my own rather than them contacting me first. It's funny my husband ordered a realestate book online from an area in Florida a few days ago and now his e-mail box is filled with stuff from realtors from Florida and here in South Carolina.

we ran into the same thing when I ordered the R/E books for Atlanta.
I guess with the market as bad as I have been hearing a Buyer is gold to a Realtor. Which would make me even more inclined to use someone that has been recommended.
I know quite a few Realtors will disagree but I have run into some that just want the sale.
One Realtor that we called kept sending us houses with no basements and no yard when these were the 2 important things on our list.
Plus if I recommend someone I would be pretty upset if they didn't provide the level of service that was the reason for me recommending them.
.
There are a few Realtors on this forum that not only have provided such helpful information but they have been members for awhile so I know their not just joining to get customers. I would call on them should I be moving to their area.

I think you meant realtor advertising, didn't you?

I'm online often so I take time to visit all the state and general forums once in a while. I've discovered that some of our most helpful members are realtors -- even though it took me a while to figure out who's who. Gretchen B comes to mind; Chaz Longue... I could continue naming the very best of our "good guy" realtors, but I'd surely leave out someone who has contributed much to the great resource that City-Data has become, so I won't go on (however, I should mention that CharlotteAgent is moving up on my list daily).

Always good to hear nice things about members. I, too, have had good feed-back from several members who are undoubtedly agents.

Question Post here or not??? Hmmmmmmmmmm

Anything regarding "Realtors" scares me, but here goes anyways...

First off, my THANKS to CD Management for making this change . Now it will be easier for readers to know the source of the comments made by those in the RE Industry regarding the city they are considering for relocation. Very important fact IMHO!

Unfortunately if this thread is any indication of the future, we will probably get inundated like SunnyHelena alludes to in her post and it should be interesting for the MOD's to handle . Right away, like Hoosier guy stated, I really saw close to zero percent appreciation for this nice addition to CD .

Yes Figment07 is correct, there are some helpful posts by Realtors on here. But do the posters on CD really care about what a Realtor's background, title or designation is? I would care to guess it's a BIG FAT NO (if someone really cares, they can do a POLL regarding this issue)

All we really want is someone we can TRUST to best represent us . The back and forth nonsense about title etc only makes me want to avoid those persons who posted.

Lastly, we ALL have some knowledge and WE all share that knowledge freely on the CD forum. For a person to say you are sharing your knowledge 'pro bono' here on CD leads me to believe you think your audience here is not so bright .

Love me or hate me, but those are my thoughts on this delicate matter .

p.s.
I think the Realtors who have been faithfully posting here (and some with great advice) will agree that they too don't want an influx of Realtors flooding the forums and stealing their (potential) clients ! Please don't hate me when I'm RIGHT !

Thanks figment. I know we got of to a rocky start but I think we are both coming around.

I am willing to donate to city data to help with the costs. I asked about possibly paying for a advertising banner in the charlotte forum. I am sure the bandwidth here is getting higher each day.

I too do not want this site to be a place where someone copies and paste on every thread.
