Default NY RE License to FL

Is a NY real estate license transferable to Florida? Without having to take more classes?

Florida real estate license reciprocity by mutual recognition

But this info may be out of date. Check with the Real Estate Commission in FLA

Yes, I have read that. I guess that means you must start over from scratch and take the course and exam. I was just looking for some firsthand experience from someone who has done it. Im sure there are many.

lol..I so need to read more carefully.. I thought you were talking about drivers license. Why, I have no idea, lol.

Anyway...yes, you will have to take the courses and the test here in Florida. The very good reasoning for it that the laws in NY vs Florida are very different. You're an attorney state, we're not. You're more of a designated state (buyer's broker/seller's broker), we're more transaction brokerage. And the contracts are prewritten, very different than NY and you need to know all about them since you'll be doing them.
But...it's easy.
Good luck to ya.. where in Florida are you going?

Dont know yet. It will be a year or two before we get everything up here sold (business, rental property). I would think the time it takes us to get down there will give the economy a little time to recover? Hopefully. We dont know where in FL yet, Im just trying to get away from the snow and gloomy gray days up here in NY.
