I have searched this forum regarding buying a house with aluminum wiring and read some "don't do it" and some "no big deal".

But, I am wondering how insurance companies treat homes with aluminum wiring. Is there a problem getting insurance? Is it going to be a higher monthly premium?

Thanks in advance.

If you have single conductor aluminum branch circuit wiring make sure your carrier knows it and you have that acknowledgment in writing if they issue a policy! Its a big deal for sure and many insurance companies simply won't write a policy unless the house has been rewired. There have been some repair methods over the years ,but your insurance company must make the call.

I've ran into the same issue. Some insurance companies refuse to insure a home with aluminum wiring. I also found that many that have insured the homes previously did not know there was this type of wiring when they wrote the policy originally.
