They can be predominantly black or mixed black and other races. But which areas/states would it be most common to see a black middle class in?

I'm a white dude who has lived all over the country, and I'm going to say Atlanta hands down.

You know you can look up demographics on the Census site. Census Bureau Home Page

I think I remember reading somewhere that Atlanta has the largest percentage of business owners that are African-American, but I'd have to try and find that article to confirm my memory. I'd think the NAACP would be able to answer your question as well.

Also white here. Lived in Chicago, Hartford, Atlanta, Boston, New York. Traveled to many others.

Atlanta was striking to me compared to everywhere else. Definitely a black middle class there. Still largely segregated, perhaps self-segregated, but if there were black middle class suburbs. Had never seen those before. Lived there two years and always thought if I were African American, that's where I'd want to live.

Then again, maybe I haven't gotten around enough. Or maybe I'm naive. Or maybe it's a southern thing.

Agree with the others, and also suggest Richmond, VA.

Atlanta Atlanta Atlanta. I read that there are tons of black middle- and upper-class and professional families moving there. They want to live in upscale communities, without their children being the only black kids in school. They want to live in beautiful McMansions like everybody else in their income bracket, but don't want to be the only black family on the block. They have found their niche in Atlanta. Apparently there are tons of upscale communities with predominantly black owners. They feel they have the best of both worlds there -- upscale suburban life, with people of their own culture and background.

Los Angeles..

despite less than maybe some other minority representation, there are quite a number of middle - wealthy African American enclaves.

I find the original post racist.
No, I made it quite clear what I was asking, it's a simple question, which areas have the highest black middle class. I'm talking about this from an economic stance.

None other than Atlanta... I see a LOT of middle class homes as well as very wealth homes owned by Blacks over there... the design of the homes there are very nice and for an almost unbeatable price too... there are also bad areas in and around Atlanta... you better be careful... oh, there is also "white flight" there too... as more and more Blacks move into areas, the Whites usually leave as well...
