I have someone interested in buying my home (not on the market yet) I'd like to get a appraisal so I can give him a price. I called country wide (my current lender) and got a bunch of double speak. The interested party is
thinking of using Country wide. But I'm not sure if it will be VA, FHA or what.
Please advise.

Thnx,
Doni

You can go online and lookup appraisers in your area. You can also search on the Appraisal Institute's website. See Appraisal Institute Member Directory - Appraisers, Find an Appraiser.

You could also ask a local real estate agent for a referral.

What are you looking to use the appraisal for? If it's for the buyer's financing it's best to let the lender have it done, especially if they are going for VA or FHA financing.

The buyer's lender will probably require an appraisal at the buyer's expense but in this market if you are trying to gauge value of your home and are willing to pay for it then I think it is a great idea to get an appraisal. This is especially true if you are needing to or looking to sell at a discount. Investors really want the LTV when considering property and recent appraisals will expedite that process.
